Free Online Class: Propaganda and the Personal, December 22

We'll be offering a free introductory session of our "Propaganda and the Personal" course, Wednesday, December 22nd at 11:30am Pacific Time.

What are some of the techniques that have been used to control large numbers of people through the manipulation of information and mass media, and what makes us susceptible to it? How can we avoid falling prey to propaganda?

Find out in this one-time introductory course, with instructor Lila Stone.

To sign up, just send us an email.

(Note: Because we are a private membership association, students who take our classes must become members of the Freogan Fellowship. This is free, easy to do, and can be revoked at any time!)

Two Months Ago, Josh Mawhorter Was Fired From His Teaching Job Because He Wouldn't Take The Covid-19 Vaccine. Now He's Teaching For Us.

Josh Mawhorter had been teaching for about five years in two California charter schools until this past October, when both schools demanded that he either show proof of having received the Covid-19 vaccine or submit to weekly Covid-19 tests. Josh refused to do either, and was fired from one school and placed on "administrative leave" with the other.

Writes Josh, in a piece for FEE:

It would be incongruous with what I consistently teach my students to back down and comply in a matter of rights, liberty, and principles. A quote, often misattributed to Thomas Jefferson, but nevertheless true, applies, “In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.”

Today, we are very happy to announce that those two charter schools' loss is Freogan Fellowship's gain – and that Josh will be teaching classes for us beginning in January!

Josh will offer the following classes for teens:

"Introductory economics from an Austrian perspective";

"U.S. History from around 1600 - 1865";

and "Personal Finance for Teens."

Double Your Freedom Learning!

Our classes for teens start next week!

We're very excited, and we think you should be too. We are launching Freogan Fellowship Learning with classes that address two of the most critical issues facing our world today - especially for anyone who cares about ever again living in a free society.

"Propaganda and the Personal" explores the ways in which information has been manipulated throughout the ages for the purpose of manipulating human beings, and how to avoid falling victim to it...

...and "Our Common-Law Foundations" looks at both the philisophical and practical underpinnings of a society based in law that protects rights vs. law that protects rulers.

Our regular price for each of these classes is $320, or $640 for both.

But now, if you sign up for BOTH classes, we will drop the price from $640 to $499!

See the posts below for class descriptions, or contact us for more information, and to register for classes.

And yes... for now, these are for teens (and some pre-teens) only. Sorry adults! We may add some classes for you in the future.

Our Upcoming Classes:

Common-Law-ad-3

UPDATED on Oct. 17 (re: class times and tuition.)

We are offering two live, online classes for teens, starting the week of October 25th:

"Propaganda and the Personal" - This course will explore propaganda, politics, and the personal, with a focus on the 20th Century up to the present moment. We will examine some of the key players, the ideologies, and the techniques that have led us to the current crisis, as well as what our part in it has been and could be.

We will compassionately interrogate our own biases and assumptions so that we are not doomed to repeat, and we will find ways forward – to begin building a future that we truly want for ourselves and our communities.

There will be assigned reading, as well as viewing of video content, and there will be some short writing assignments as well as a final paper or creative project. There are no tests in this course.

This class is currently scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, at time TBD. This class runs for 8 weeks.

We have some flexibility with the scheduling and can work to find a time that works for everyone.

"Our Common-Law Foundations" - This course will utilize the Socratic method to explore the roots of the modern western legal system. We will be using outside sources, and students should expect lots of real-time conversation. There will be some reading to be done outside of class, as well as some thinking. There may also be some short writing assignments, but the core of this class is really the in-class discussions. There will be no tests.

This class is currently scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays, at time TBD. This class runs for 8 weeks.

We have some flexibility with the scheduling and can work to find a time that works for everyone.

The price for each of these classes is $320 (plus a small materials fee).

What We've Got Planned for this Fall

Education is in crisis.

From political indoctrination to school violence, police presence on campuses, and dystopian restrictions on normal human behavior and interaction, it is becoming increasingly clear to more and more parents that sending their children to school is no longer in their best interests.

This presents us with an unprecedented opportunity – not only to exit a badly broken system, but to reimagine what education is, what it can be, and what we want it to be for our children.

That's what we're doing at Freogan Fellowship Learning, the education arm of Freogan Fellowship Ministry (a private membership association.)

Starting this October, we will be offering to our members live, online classes for teens in the humanities. Through our curriculum, we aim to restore what has been eroded by decades of ideologically motivated instruction; to give students a deep understanding of what is required for free societies to flourish; and above all, to encourage and strengthen students' capacity for independent thought and critical reasoning.

We will begin with two courses that are directly relevant to some of the greatest challenges of our time:

"Propaganda and the Personal" - This course will explore propaganda, politics, and the personal, with a focus on the 20th Century up to the present moment. We will examine some of the key players, the ideologies, and the techniques that have led us to the current crisis, as well as what our part in it has been and could be.

We will compassionately interrogate our own biases and assumptions so that we are not doomed to repeat, and we will find ways forward – to begin building a future that we truly want for ourselves and our communities.

"Our Common-Law Foundations" - This course will utilize the Socratic method to explore the roots of the modern western legal system. We will be using outside sources, and students should expect lots of real-time conversation. There will be some reading to be done outside of class, as well as some thinking.

Beginning in the spring, we will also offer courses in literature, history, and economics.

Freogan Fellowship Learning also plans to create live in-person learning and social events, and to help connect others around the country and around the world, who want to do the same.

To learn more, or to sign up for either of these classes, please contact us.

Our Mission

Ours is a different kind of education.

Most schools promise to give your children the tools they will need to be successful in life.

At Freogan Fellowship Learning, we ask what "success" means. And we recognize that the answer will be unique to each child.

Our core values include encouraging independent thinking, nurturing passions, and building strong community. They can best be summed up in the two words:

Independence and connection.

Superficially, the two values might seem at odds with each other. But we say that each is necessary for the other:

Without independence of thought and expression, there is no authenticity, and there can be no real connection. And without connection, any independence is empty and meaningless.

What we offer:

Beginning in the fall of 2021, we will be offering to our members a selection of online core courses in the humanities. These will include history, literature, economics and philosophy. These courses will be taught live, and students will be able to interact both with instructors and with each other.

For 2021, we will be offering classes for teens. We hope to expand our offerings to other ages very soon.

We will also work with our members to assist them in building community in the Freogan Fellowship spirit, and creating social events and in-person learning activities wherever they are.

These will include dances and parties, holiday celebrations, tutorials in real-life skills such as gardening, farming, building, cooking and food preservation, as well as sporting events and academic and creative activities.

Who we are:

The Freogan Fellowship Ministry is a private membership association whose mission is to rebuild the deep foundations of society that we feel have been eroded and supplanted in recent generations.

We work to create education that honors the deeper needs of children and teens; to create care for those with special needs and for the elderly that is respectful of the individuals being served; and to facilitate the provision of healthcare that respect individual choices, and that is not limited to solutions promulgated by any one industry.

Freogan Fellowship Learning is the educational arm of the Freogan Fellowship Ministry.
